Every now and then you come across a movie that not only depicts a wonderful story, but it also teaches you something interesting: we cannot change everything, and sometimes acceptance is more important than change.
Today I watched the movie “The Soloist“. It’s a brilliant film (based on a true story) about a journalist who comes across a homeless man who is gifted with music but also has schizophrenia. Interestingly enough, the homeless man is not actually aware that he is sick and he chooses to live on the streets. I don’t want to ruin the plot for you, so if you come across this movie, do watch it 🙂 It gives new meaning to the word “acceptance”.
I’m one of those people who constantly wants to change everything – and the more things I want to change, the more difficult it gets. This movie makes me realize that sometimes some things should be left alone because by attempting to change them – we are messing with their beauty.
Sounds like a wonderful, food-for-thought movie, Fieran! 🙂 Nice to watch a movie with a deeper meaning every now and then 🙂
You should watch it if you come across it. Quite a nice film.
Ooh, I watched Seven Pounds (Will Smith) two nights ago and it made me bawl. Twas a good movie.
Hmm, I’ve never watched Seven Pounds. I think my Mom mentioned watching it. Might catch it one of these days 🙂
Hey that story of Beth in the “extras” section of the DVD was great, too.
